When it matters, Drytek it.
Local coverage
Johannesburg South covers a wide band of established suburbs holding some of the oldest housing stock in the city — Glenvista, Glenanda, Mondeor, Rosettenville, Linmeyer and Meredale among many others. That age shows in the waterproofing: original 1960s and 1970s flat roofs, weathered tile underlays and damp at foundation level that has never properly been dealt with.
Drytek Waterproofing is based in Bedfordview and travels to Johannesburg South as part of our city-wide coverage. Southern suburb inspections are usually scheduled in batches so we can give a clear arrival window and keep travel time off your quote. We assess the actual source of the problem before recommending the appropriate repair or waterproofing system.

Common problems
A large share of Johannesburg South housing stock dates from the 1960s and 1970s, and many of those flat concrete roof sections have never been properly re-waterproofed. The original membrane has long since perished, laps have opened and water is now sitting on and soaking into the slab itself.
Cement tile roofs in Glenvista, Mondeor and the surrounding suburbs commonly have brittle, torn underlay that no longer catches windblown rain. Leaks show up at ridges, valleys and chimney details, usually a good distance from where the ceiling stain appears.
Older south Johannesburg homes regularly show rising and lateral damp along the base of walls. In most cases the foundation waterproofing was either never installed or has failed, so the problem returns no matter how often the wall is replastered and painted.
IBR and Chromadek lean-tos, carports, outbuildings and extensions take heavy hail in the southern suburbs. Once the coating is broken, rust spreads quickly along seam edges and around fixing screws, and the sheet starts leaking well before it looks bad from the ground.

Common questions
Yes. DryTek is based in Bedfordview and Johannesburg South forms part of our standard city-wide coverage, including Glenvista, Mondeor, Alberton, Mulbarton and the surrounding suburbs. We assess the actual source of the problem before recommending the appropriate repair or waterproofing system.
Not always. Tile roofs with isolated failure points at ridges, valleys or flashings can often be repaired in a targeted way. Older flat concrete roofs may need more extensive waterproofing when the existing system has deteriorated or reached the end of its service life. The condition of the existing waterproofing, substrate and drainage will determine whether a targeted repair or full re-waterproofing is appropriate.
Regularly. In southern complexes, we inspect both the affected units and the shared roof and balcony areas, then issue a written scope and quote suitable for trustee or agent approval. Access with residents is arranged before work starts.
Yes. We can inspect existing flat roof areas and carry out maintenance where the waterproofing system is still suitable for repair. Where the existing system has reached the end of its service life or has deteriorated extensively, we will explain the condition and recommend the appropriate waterproofing solution.
Inspections and quotes are free. You can WhatsApp photos and rough measurements for a preliminary estimate, but the final quote is confirmed after an on-site inspection so we can properly assess the substrate and detail conditions.
